This research project is intended to inform people not only about the history of sports in Pittsburgh but also why it should be considered one of the most important cities in sports. The focus of this paper will be the three main teams in the city, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates. This research is important because of the attention and revenue that sports teams and athletes bring to a particular city.
The methodology that I will use will consist of journals and interviews that are relevant to this topic. These journals will inform on not only revenue that the teams bring in to the city, but also personal statistics of not only Pittsburgh teams, but of other major sports cities such as Boston and New York.
I will use the research that I find to answer questions that involve the succes of these teams compaired to others, the reasons why that these teams are able to remain in Pittsburgh even after problems arise, and where do certain players rank compaired to other athletes from other cities. I expect to find that not only is Pittsburgh been a positive step in the history of sports, but it is one of the most important of all time. I also intend to get others who may not be interested in sports intreged and excited to pay more attention to them.
